Nadim Arafa is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Sheridan College. Dr. Arafa got his PhD from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in May 2017. His PhD research was about experimental investigation of the Fluid-Structure-Sound coupling mechanism encountered in complex geometries such as finned-tubes in heat exchangers. His main expertise are in the fields of Flow-Structure Interactions, Experimental Aeroacoustics, and Flow-Induced Vibrations.

Dr. Arafa joined Sheridan College in Jan. 2022. Prior to this, he was working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Aerospace Studies at University of Toronto (UTIAS) since Aug. 2019. He worked within an industrial research collaboration between Bombardier, NSERC, and the University of Toronto with the purpose of developing next-generation aircraft sustainable designs with particular focus on noise analysis and control.

Dr. Arafa has a vast experience teaching courses such as Mechanical Vibrations, Kinematics of Machines, Solid Mechanics, and Fluid Dynamics. He has worked as a researcher, teaching assistant, instructor, and lab coordinator for several institutions over 15 years of experience. He has authored/co-authored 27 publications. Dr. Arafa holds a BSc. and MSc. from Cairo University in Egypt (2007 and 2010) and currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario. He has a particular passion for airplanes, drones, and aerospace engineering applications.
