Theatre Sheridan now offers relaxed performances! Please refer to our season schedule for specific relaxed performance dates.
A relaxed performance is a performance where some elements have been adjusted to allow a wider audience the opportunity to attend the show. These adjustments include:
- Keeping the house lights on at a low setting
- Changing some lighting cues to be less visually stimulating
- Limiting the number of loud noises
- Providing a pre-show introduction to the performance
- Having a room for people to go to when they feel overstimulated
- Relaxing our in/out policy to allow patrons more freedom to leave and re-enter the theatre as needed
While relaxed performances were originally designed for people with disabilities, there are benefits for anyone who would like to attend a relaxed performance! The aim of a relaxed performance is that the content and experience of the show is exactly the same, while the environment is more relaxed for the audience. If any of these adjustments sound appealing or may assist you, please join us at one of our relaxed performances!
