Shining Brighter with Sheridan

Sheridan was the stepping stone that has helped me build my career over the past four years. I look forward to further professional and personal growth and success thanks to the skills and connections I gained through my Sheridan education.

In my first year, Sheridan gave me the flexibility to hold down two jobs while managing my course load. I worked as a part time data entry clerk for CIBC and as a Manager at Harvey’s.

In my third year, I was recruited by RBC following an on-campus job fair. Having started as a contact centre rep, I have since advanced several times to become an Account Manager at a Royal Bank branch in Georgetown, Ontario.

I came to Sheridan via a less traditional route than others. After moving to Canada in 2000, I attended high school for two years before enrolling at Sheridan. My brother-in-law is an accountant and I used to listen to his conversations about the stock market with great interest. As well, the technology recession in the early 2000's (Nortel’s collapse, in particular) made me think about acquiring the right training to hedge myself against potential pink slips in the future.

Sheridan provided me with both the hands-on training and the academic knowledge to enter today’s competitive job market with confidence. The business school enjoys a good reputation, particularly for its laptop program. I was also fortunate enough to meet some of my closest friends and several inspirational professors at Sheridan, relationships that I will always cherish.

My next step is to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce through Sheridan's joint program with Ryerson University and then go on to earn an MBA. Over the long term, I am also considering becoming a continuing education professor at Sheridan.
