Making Opportunities

Drawing on the interpersonal and technical skills that I gained at Sheridan, I began my career as an Education Consultant in 2007. I work in the Faculty of Technology and Business at triOS College in Toronto. After graduation, I worked as a Web Developer at CIBC and Royal Bank, and a Technology Training Consultant at Dynexa. I enjoy the fact that the technology field is ever-changing and challenging; there truly is never a dull moment in this area.

Sheridan provided me with not only the fundamental education but also the hands-on training, support and resources to build my confidence and communication skills. Faculty member Judith MacKinnon made a huge impact on my personal and professional growth. Her patience and endless support helped me realize my potential and become an integral part of student mentor program.

As part of my effort to give back as an experienced graduate, I have established a networking group for female students enrolled in Sheridan’s science and technology programs. Called Knowledge Network of Women in Technology (KNOWIT), the group helps women advance by providing them with the support of other female professionals in the technology sector. KNOWIT is not just a club rather a concept to help women see and believe in their ability and become IT leaders. The group’s first information session held last November garnered a great response from women planning to build careers in several different technology fields.

If you are an ACES alumni, and would like to become a KNOWIT volunteer leader, please contact Meenu at: meenu.seda@sheridanc.on.ca

I urge today’s students to get involved in the school. Go above and beyond your duties as a student to make a difference in your life, the lives of your peers and your school. Remember: A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.
