International Application: How to Apply

  • Use our programs database to choose from more than 130 diploma, degree and graduate certificate program options across five faculties.

    Each individual program listing contains program information, learning outcomes, courses, career opportunities, admission requirements and program intakes.

    You can list up to three preferred programs in your application, so be sure to explore your options.

    Tip

    To assess your eligibility to apply we have provided you with a list of general admission requirements applicable to your specific country.  Please cross-reference it with admission requirements listed on the program page. Some of the programs have additional admission requirements (such as portfolio) or require students to complete an assessment as part of admissions criteria (such as HOAE).

  • Applying online is the only way you can apply. Sheridan doesn't have paper applications.

    The non-refundable application fee of $100 is payable online by Visa, MasterCard or electronic wire transfer at the time of application. Credit card is preferred as it is a faster method of payment.

    Note that the Application Fee is valid for one academic year only – May to January.

    Your email confirmation about successful submission will be sent to you within minutes of submitting payment. This email confirms the successful submission of your application.

    Tips

    • Be sure to use your full legal name (as it appears in your passport).
    • You can submit your application and then send your documents later.
    • Include your personal email address on your application form.
    • To check the availability of seat in your program use the application link and select VIEW button.

    Apply online

  • After you apply online, you will receive important information from Sheridan by email within 1 to 5 business days after submitting your application. You will receive:

    • a nine-digit Sheridan ID number. Include this with any correspondence about your application.
    • a username and password; you will use these to access the Sheridan Application Portal, where you can track the status of your application.  You will also use this for your Sheridan webmail account (@sheridanc.on.ca); this is your personal email account with Sheridan and will become our main point source of sending you information.  You are required to check this account regularly for communications.
  • After you have submitted your online application, paid your application fee and received your Sheridan login information, you can submit additional documents directly in your Sheridan Application Portal.

    Attach an official transcript of the academic record from the students’ secondary school or postsecondary institution. In case the transcripts/certificates are not in English, note that these documents must be accompanied by a notarized, official translation into English. Translated copies must also be accompanied by a copy of the original transcript.

    Additional admissions requirements:

    • You may have to satisfy additional admissions requirements (i.e. submitting a portfolio)
    • To find out if there any additional requirements associated with the program(s) you are applying to:
      • Log on to the Sheridan Application Portal with your Sheridan username and password
      • Under the Admissions heading click Application Status to bring up the Application Status page.
      • On the Application Status page click the View Additional Admission Requirements link to view the Applicant Information Sheet.
  • Confirming your acceptance at Sheridan is only a click away! Once you receive your Sheridan offer letter, please log into the Sheridan Application Portal to confirm your acceptance. Under the Admissions heading click the link for application status. You will then see a link to "Accept/Decline Admission", select this link and it will give you the option to accept your offer. Please keep in mind, once your offer letter is issued you must accept within two weeks of the date printed on the letter or your offer may expire.

    Tip

    • Fee invoices are available online ONLY AFTER we have received your acceptance and updated your student record.  Please note that invoices are posted within 4 months prior to your program start date
    • If you applied to more than one program, you may receive a separate letter for each.  You may only accept one offer of admission, but you may change your choice at a later date, space permitting.
  • Failure to pay your fees by the fee deadline specified in your Fee Invoice will result in a $150 charge and could mean your preferred program will not be available to you.

    Students can access their Fee Invoice via myStudent Centre:

    1. Login to myStudent Centre using your Sheridan username and password
    2. Under Finances section, select View My Fee Invoice

  • Your housing application is separate from your application for admission. There are also off campus housing options available for international students.

  • In order to study in Canada, you will require a study permit.

    For complete information on immigration and application requirements, consult the Government of Canada website.

    Study permit application processing time can vary by country, so you should start well in advance of your program start date.

    Effective June 1, 2014 Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) introduced changes to the International Student Program. Please visit CIC website to see how this may impact you.

    Effective June 1, 2014 all study permit applications must include Designated Learning Institution (DLI) number.

    Sheridan College is a Designated Learning Institution and our DLI number is O19385946782

    New rules aim to protect Canada’s international reputation for high-quality education and improving services to genuine students. The new rules will:

    • limit the issuance of study permits to applicants who will be studying at a designated learning institution, including institutions that are designated by provinces and territories on the basis of meeting minimum standards;
    • require students to actively pursue their studies while in Canada; and
    • allow full-time international students enrolled at designated institutions in certain programs to work part time off campus and full time during scheduled school breaks without a work permit.
