Each year, Sheridan awards millions of dollars in scholarships, bursaries and awards to eligible students through the Sheridan Student Assistance Program.

External awards from corporate, private and community organizations are also available. Thank you to our generous donors for making these opportunities possible.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement in addition to other established criteria.

Sheridan Degree Entrance Scholarships

Sheridan is pleased to provide an Entrance Scholarship to select applicants for many of our degree programs.

Bursaries are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need in addition to other established criteria.

Academic awards

Sheridan presents hundreds of academic awards to students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement. Students are typically presented their awards annually at an awards ceremony or grad show. Students are notified by their faculty if they've been chosen as the recipient of an academic award.

How to apply for scholarships, bursaries and awards

Complete your General Award Application in myStudent Centre — your profile will automatically be matched to Sheridan scholarships, bursaries and awards opportunities.

We recommend that you use Chrome to access the General Award Application.

  1. Log in to mystudentcentre.sheridancollege.ca
  2. Under the Finances tab select Other financials from the drop-down menu
  3. Select Online Award Application > Apply

Identify scholarships and bursaries that you're eligible for

Your completed application will automatically identify any award opportunities for which you meet the eligibility criteria. The list of opportunities is located under the Opportunities link.

Sheridan award opportunities are usually posted at the beginning of each semester and, once you've submitted your General Award Application, you'll be notified of any new awards. External awards are updated as they're received so it's important that you frequently review the opportunities.

You can apply to any award opportunity for which you meet the eligibility criteria. Award criteria can be viewed at the time of application.

Letters of reference and supporting documentation

Applications may require letters of reference from individuals who are familiar with your accomplishments. You should carefully review the application requirements to make sure you provide the correct information.

Receiving your award

Your application will be processed in roughly four to six weeks following the application deadline, though the length of time may vary depending on the volume of applications received.

All eligible applicants are screened against the criteria and the most qualified applicants are selected. If your application is successful, a notification email will be sent to your Sheridan student email account.

If successful and you do not have an outstanding balance with Sheridan, a cheque will be sent to you at the home address that Sheridan has on file. Make sure that your contact information is up to date in myStudent Centre

Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and financial aid

Your OSAP entitlement may be affected if you receive a significant amount of financial assistance. When you receive a scholarship or bursary, you should update your OSAP information. Sheridan reports most awards directly to OSAP. The Financial Aid and Awards Office will contact you by email if you receive an award from our office that requires you to update the information on your OSAP application.

Financial aid and tax

Scholarships, bursaries and awards are considered part of your taxable income. Sheridan issues T4A slips to all recipients in late winter/early spring of the year following the year in which the scholarships, bursaries and awards were issued.

Sheridan College participates in the HigherEdPoints.com program. With this partnership, students (or their parents or grandparents) can convert Aeroplan® Miles and/or TD Points into funds to help cover fees as well as pay off OSAP loans.
