John is a Professor in the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College. He is coordinator of Sheridan’s highly successful Post-Graduate HR Co-op Program that prepares university graduates for professional careers in HR. He has developed and taught a broad range of graduate level courses in that program and currently specializes in teaching in the areas of talent acquisition and strategic human resources competencies. John has an MBA from York University with a specialty in Organization Behaviour and a BA in political science from the University of Toronto. He holds the CHRP designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. His contribution to the profession has included membership on its Board of Directors, as well as its Professional Standards, Appeals, and Governance and Nominating Committees. He is a past President of the Halton Chapter of the association and past member of the editorial advisory board of the HR Professional magazine published by HRPA. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Grater Toronto Area Rewards Association.

An experienced Human Resources professional with an extensive and successful track record in human resources consulting and management John combines the skills of an accomplished HR management trainer and consultant with practical experience in strategic and day to day management of business operations. Has delivered HR related training to the financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications, aerospace and management consulting sectors.

John has worked in North America, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He has held senior human resources management positions with two major Canadian banks (CIBC, Scotiabank) and has also managed training and development activities for large retail (Eatons) and financial services institutions (Citibank). He has also created human resources functions for medium sized companies in the automotive parts manufacturing and management consulting industries. He has designed and delivered training for specialists in the recruitment industry and provided technical expertise and training for a national talent acquisition program for a major telecommunications firm. He has provided consulting services in the following areas:
