Carolyn Moorlag

Carolyn Moorlag, MSc, PhD

Director of the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing

Dr. Moorlag drives strategy, research initiatives and growth of the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing, addressing challenges of the manufacturing industry broadly across sectors such as medical technologies, energy systems, cleantech, and transportation.  She actively engages with the other research centres of Generator at Sheridan, initiating cross disciplinary research alongside collaborative partnerships with industry. Prior to coming to her current position at Sheridan, Dr. Moorlag was Senior Research and Development Manager of the Materials Integration and Intelligent Devices Lab at the Xerox Research Centre of Canada. Her technical background includes a Masters in Metals and Materials Engineering, and a PhD in Materials Chemistry, both from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Moorlag has expertise in the integration of new components into prototypes for key application areas, and demonstration by additive manufacturing in particular. She is a strong contributor to innovation and holds over 130 issued technology patents and 14 literature papers, most recently focusing on innovation for 3D printing technologies.

Ethan Shen, PhD

Dr. Ethan Shen is the Manager of the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing at Sheridan College. Dr. Shen has expertise in the areas of electronics integration, software programming, IoT (internet of things) application, and medical imaging. He has experience in industry working in printed electronics, smart packaging, 3D printing, robotics, and IoT system integration with 12 patents. He has worked on collaborative projects such as touch sensing point of purchase display with Xerox Canada, portable medical imaging system with Defence Research and Development Canada and Fraunhofer Institute, and additively manufactured luminaire with industrial and academia partners.

Belinda Pompey

Assistant to the Director and Office Manager

Belinda PompeyIn her capacity as the Assistant to the Director and Office Manager, Belinda Pompey leverages a wealth of experience to support the dynamic and multifaceted operations of the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing (CIM) at Sheridan College. Responsible for a spectrum of confidential administrative functions, her role is integral to advancing CIM's goals, objectives, and the overarching vision of Research at Sheridan Generator. Demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, Belinda adeptly manages and provides administrative leadership for diverse processes, procedures, and information crucial to CIM's projects, planning initiatives, communication strategies, operations, and policy compliance.

Naomi Wang

Research Technical Lead

Naomi WangNaomi Wang serves as the Research Technical Lead at the Center for Intelligent Manufacturing (CIM), bringing a dual expertise in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering acquired from McMaster University and the University of Toronto. Her proficiency extends to the design and prototyping of wearable devices for biometric measurement and tracking, as well as diagnostic prostheses for upper limb prosthesis fitting assessment. In her role, Naomi actively engages in and supports diverse projects within the medical device industry and manufacturing environments.
