Education is the most important investment you can make in your future. In addition to government funding, Sheridan awards over $7 million in bursaries, scholarships and awards every year. External awards from corporate, private or community organizations are also available. Sheridan College would like to thank our generous donors for making these opportunities possible! The eligibility criteria vary for each award.
To learn more, visit the Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries page on myOTR.
Scholarships are awarded based on criteria that may include academic achievement, community involvement, demonstrated leadership skills and financial need.
Sheridan Degree Entrance Scholarships
Sheridan is pleased to provide an Entrance Scholarship to select applicants for many of our degree programs. View Sheridan Degree Entrance Scholarship details.
Bursaries are awarded based primarily on financial need although academic achievement and community involvement may be considered.
Sheridan presents over 600 Academic Awards to students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement. Faculty members nominate students for these awards which are presented annually at an awards ceremony. Students are notified by their faculty if they have been chosen as the recipient of an academic award.

Submit your General Online Awards Application

- Select Online Award Application > Apply
We recommend that you use Chrome or Internet Explorer to access the General Online Awards Application.
Identify scholarships and bursaries that you're eligible for
Your completed application will automatically identify any bursaries and scholarship opportunities for which you meet the eligibility criteria. A list of scholarship and bursary opportunities is located under the “Opportunities” link.
Sheridan bursaries and scholarships are usually posted at the beginning of each term and, once you have submitted your General Online Awards Application, you will be notified of any new awards. External awards are updated as they are received so it’s important that you frequently review the opportunities.
You can apply to any bursary for which you meet the eligibility criteria. Interested applicants may view the criteria when applying to the specific award.
Letters of reference and supporting documentation
Depending on the requirements, applications often ask for letters of reference from Faculty and / or community members and / or individuals who are familiar with your accomplishments. Applicants should carefully review the application to ensure they are providing the correct information and / or supporting documentation.
Receiving your award
Your application will be processed in roughly four to six weeks following the application deadline – though the length of time may vary depending on the volume of applications received.
Each bursary / scholarship has a set amount of money available to be awarded. All eligible applicants are screened against the criteria and the most qualified applicant is selected. An email will be sent to your Sheridan email account to inform you whether or not your application has been successful.
If successful, a bursary cheque will be sent to you at the home address you have provided to Sheridan. Therefore, you should check that all your contact information is up to date in myStudent Centre.
Unlike OSAP, you will not have to pay back any bursary or scholarship.
OSAP and financial aid
OSAP may be affected if you receive significant financial assistance. When a scholarship or bursary is received, students should update their OSAP information. Sheridan reports most awards directly to OSAP. We will contact you via email if you receive an award from our office that requires you to take action to update the information on your OSAP application.
Financial aid and tax
Awards are considered part of a student’s taxable income for the year. The college will issue T4A forms to all recipients in the spring of the year following the year in which the award was paid.
Sheridan College has joined the HigherEdPoints.com program as a Participating Institution. With this new partnership, students (or their parents or grandparents) are able to convert Aeroplan® Miles and/or TD Points into funds to help cover fees as well as pay off OSAP loans.
