Our structure and services

As part of Sheridan's strategic goal to build our reputation as a leading employer, we're committed to focusing on People Management Transformation, Total Rewards Review and Communication, and Transformational Change Capabilities.

In support of these priorities, the HR Department has aligned its structure into four Centres of Expertise:

  1. The Centre for Employment Relations and Partnerships
  2. The Centre for Talent Management
  3. The Centre for Equity and Inclusion
  4. Occupational Health and Safety Services

The Centre for Employment Relations and Partnerships

The Centre for Employment Relations and Partnerships leads all employee and labour relations activities and strategy for Sheridan.

Key functions include:

  • Enhancing partnerships with Sheridan leaders to implement departmental strategies
  • Driving HR initiatives that facilitate implementation of Sheridan’s Strategic plan
  • Providing expert guidance and advice on the interpretation of the collective agreements and all employment matters

The Centre for Talent Management

The Centre for Talent Management leads a set of integrated organizational processes designed to source, attract, select, retain, and promote motivated and engaged employees.

Key functions include:

  • Integrated workforce planning
  • Strategic talent acquisition
  • HR strategic planning and goal alignment
  • Total rewards management (compensation, pension & benefits, Human Resource Information System)

The Centre for Equity and Inclusion

The Centre for Equity and Inclusion is responsible for Diversity and Inclusion initiatives as well as Human Rights and Harassment programs and services that support all members of the Sheridan community (employees, students, visitors).

Key functions include:

  • Ensuring Sheridan meets legislative requirements under:
    • The Ontario Human Rights Code
    • The Occupational Health and Safety Act
    • The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
  • Fostering equitable and inclusive environments throughout Sheridan

Occupational Health and Safety Services

Occupational Health and Safety Services is responsible for providing support to Sheridan employees, students, and visitors in the execution of their duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Key functions include:

  • Industrial hygiene assessments
  • Hazard & Incident investigations
  • Workplace Violence assessments & prevention
  • Safety reviews, consultations, inspections, auditing, training
  • Ergonomic risk reviews
