Sheridan unveils dramatic art installation at its Oakville campus

December 17, 2014

The atrium of Sheridan’s SCAET building is now home to a spectacular new art acquisition.  Titled “Bouquet”, the piece is the creation of Lyn Carter, an artist who teaches sculpture in Art and Art History, a collaborative B.A. program offered by Sheridan and the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Bouquet is a 10’ x 8’ piece that can be described as dynamic, yet ethereal.  “We hope it will provide an element of delight as people enter Sheridan,” said Ronni Rosenberg, Dean of the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design.  “It’s an expression of our commitment to enhancing the public sphere  through the arts.”

The installation is a Creative Campus initiative, one of a series that is being sponsored by the Public Creativity Group in the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design, aimed at developing creative spaces on Sheridan campuses.

Lyn Carter has exhibited across Canada and in the U.S., Australia, Britain, Spain, Mexico and China.  Her work is represented in a number of permanent collections, including the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the AstraZeneca Collection in Mississauga; the Cambridge Galleries in Cambridge, Ontario; and the Dalhousie Art Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
