International Services – Peer Mentors


Job Summary: 

International Peer Mentors work both as part of a team and independently, to assist International students with social and cultural integration in order to facilitate their academic and personal success at Sheridan.

Job Duties: 

International Student Orientation 
-Mentors contact new international students personally to welcome them and encourage their participation in orientation by helping them feel comfortable and integrate successfully. A variety of small tasks will also be assigned to the mentors to assist in the preparation of the orientation (such as set-up and décor).

Ongoing Activity 
-Mentors will assist with the planning and chaperoning of weekly events organized through the International Centre for international students on both the Davis and Trafalgar Campuses
-Mentors will also assist with the planning and chaperoning of larger international events such as the bi-annual international student potluck dinner 
-Replenishing international student application materials and compiling packages for the office as well as distributing them upon the request of clients


-Above minimum wage pay and the convenience of working in the college
-Great leadership/multicultural experience to put on your résumé
-Opportunity to help new students and learn about other cultures
