Campus Access – What to Expect 

In accordance with regulations set down by the province and public health, we have undertaken a number of measures to ensure everyone’s health and safety as we begin to welcome staff and students back on campus.

Everyone coming to campus must complete a daily self-assessment on the Sheridan Alert! App.  The assessment will ask about COVID-19 symptoms, exposure to COVID-19, and travel history. You must show the green checkmark in order to be permitted on campus.

On campus learners and employees will be required to have their Sheridan onecard with them at all times. Please note the following entrances are to be used:

On weekends and after hours, only the B wing entrances will be open.

Please call Campus Security at 905-815-4044 and ask our team to facilitate access if you have been approved for an essential activity outside of the regular hours.

Mandatory COVID-19 Training

All students and employees who are required to come to campus during the current semester must complete mandatory training to ensure they are aware of the relevant health and safety protocols.

  • STUDENTS: You are required to watch the Sheridan COVID-19 Student Safety Video Module and complete a quiz in SLATE.
  • EMPLOYEES: It is a requirement for all employees onsite to complete the Occupational Health & Safety COVID-19 training located on Sheridan Central. After you watch this video you must fill out the “Form” below it which is tracked by Occupational Health and Safety Services (OHS).

Sheridan Alert App – COVID-19 Screening

Everyone coming to campus will be asked to complete a daily self-assessment on the Sheridan Alert! App.  The assessment will ask about COVID-19 symptoms, exposure to COVID-19, and travel history.

How to complete the self-assessment in Sheridan Alert:

  1. Click on “Coronavirus Disease COVID-19” and then select “COVID-19 Screening Assessment”
  2. Complete the assessment
  3. Show your result screen at the door
    • A green check mark means you do not seem to have any COVID-19 symptoms and can be on campus.
    • A red stop sign means we recommend you stay at home. Students can reach out to the Health Centre, and employees to the Workplace Abilities Office for support.

If you are unable to access the Sheridan Alert! app, please let Security know and they will screen you by asking the same questions in person during sign-in.

You will be required to present your OneCard upon entry to the College and you must have your OneCard displayed at all times while on campus.

Masks/Face Covering

It is a requirement for all people on campus to wear a mask or face covering at all times, except when eating or drinking (while appropriately physically distanced). A non-medical face mask or a face-covering can be used when entering the campus (during active screening, and in hallways while travelling to classroom/work location). Please bring your own mask. A mask should have at least three layers of tightly woven material such as cotton or linen. The mask should cover your nose, mouth and chin.

All employees and students will be provided with and required to use a Sheridan-issued medical mask following their arrival. The medical masks will be available at the entrance in classrooms or in office locations.

Eye Protection on campus

Where people will be within two metres of each other for more than a transient interaction (e.g. passing by others), eye protection (i.e. a face shield, safety glasses, or safety goggles) is also required.

Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Once you retrieve a medical mask in your class, you can temporarily remove the non-medical mask you wore to campus to put on the medical mask. During this time, everyone must stand at least two metres apart from one another and remain stationary. The short period of time when the masks are being switched is not considered a significant risk by Public Health. Double-masking is not necessary and wearing a medical mask over a non-medical mask is not recommended at this time.


  • How to Don and Doff PPE (Poster) - provides information on how and in which order PPE should be worn (including medical masks).
  • How to Store a Non-Medical Mask Between Uses – provides information on how non-medical masks should be stored while not in use.
  • A non-medical mask should have at least 2-layers of tightly woven material such as cotton or linen. An additional filtering layer between the 2-layers is recommended. The mask should cover your nose, mouth, and chin.

There will a Security presence on campus 24/7 and members at the Welcome desk late into the evening who can help you with your questions or concerns or escorting you to your car if required.  Please go to the desk and ask for this service.  Sheridan has 147 emergency phones, which have been installed for safety inside buildings and on the grounds at TrafalgarDavis and Hazel McCallion campuses. Emergency phones provide direct access to Campus Security, and a security guard is dispatched to the phone’s location in the event of an emergency or immediately upon request.

Wayfinding Signs

Upon entering, and when on campus, you will see several wall signs and floor decals providing information and restrictions, directing foot traffic in narrow corridors and stairwells (e.g. ‘one way’), and indicating where to line-up and wait for classes, the cafeteria, and printers, etc. These signs are in place to enable physical distancing and for the health and well-being of all Sheridan community members.

Bathrooms and Water Fountains

Please try to utilize a washroom closest to your classroom, office, or lab space. You will notice signage indicating which sinks have been designated for use under safe physical distancing guidelines.  The water fountain feature is not functional, however the no-contact “fill up” feature is still operational for bottles.
