Victor Ralevich will be greatly missed

Professor and Program Coordinator founded Sheridan’s first degree program

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dr. Victor Ralevich, Professor and Program Coordinator in the School of Applied Computing. Victor passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10th.

Victor joined Sheridan in 1999 and founded the Honours Bachelor of Applied Information Sciences (Information Systems Security) program in 2003, serving as its Program Coordinator ever since. A key program in the School of Applied Computing, as well as in Sheridan’s Journey to become a university, Victor’s program will always be part of Sheridan’s proud history as the first degree program to be offered at the school. On behalf of Sheridan, Victor received the Colleges and Institutes Canada Gold Medal for Program Excellence for the best program offered at a Canadian College in 2014.

Victor mentored many students and assisted them in establishing their careers in the information security sector. He was an inspiration to his students and widely respected by them, as well as by his peers.

A world-renowned expert in information security, Victor presented at numerous international conferences. He was the Keynote Speaker for Sheridan's first Cyber Security Symposium in 2015 and was recently nominated as an Everyday Hero at Sheridan for his exemplary work. Victor's passion, spirit and commitment will be greatly missed.
