The Boxtrolls

Alumni Shine During Awards season

January 27, 2015

Three of the five films nominated for Oscars in the Best Animated Feature category were directed by animators who studied at Sheridan. Among the films nominated is How to Train Your Dragon 2, written and directed by Dean DeBlois; The Boxtrolls, directed by Graham Annable; and Big Hero 6, directed by Chris Williams. Many other Sheridan graduates also contributed their talent to the three animated features.

This latest news adds to a Golden Globe win for How to Train Your Dragon 2, plus an incredible 44 Canadian Screen Award nominations for 30 alumni. Surely a reason to celebrate!

Sheridan awards season festivities kicked off on January 16 with a screening of How to Train Your Dragon 2 on campus. Over 150 students gathered prior to the screening to create drawings based on the film. The following week saw students design their own boxtrolls before catching The Boxtrolls film.
