Selina Tombs

Selina Tombs


Dr. Tombs received her PhD in experimental psychology from York University in 2004 and specializes in the following areas: Evolutionary Psychology, Testing and Intelligence, and Sport/Exercise Psychology. Her master's research in the field of human attraction has been published in the Journal of Evolution and Human Behavior and featured in various media publications, including the London Financial Times (UK). Her doctoral research on the relationship between human intelligence measures and career choice/performance has been presented to the Department of National Defence on formal invitation for the purpose of informing personnel selection procedures. Dr. Tombs continues to conduct applied research in the field of test development and validation in partnership with Multi-Health Systems Inc., a leading Canadian psychological test publishing company. She has taught psychology courses for over 15 years at such institutions as Seneca College, York University, and currently at Sheridan Institute of Technology on a full time basis, where she actively promotes ethical teaching in higher education. Outside of her teaching and research duties, she works as a mental skills consultant to competitive figure skaters for the purpose of performance enhancement. In her free time, Dr. Tombs enjoys figure skating and volunteering in her local community.
