Rolla Bahsous

Professor

Rolla Bahsous received her MA in Performance, Theatre, and Drama Studies at the University of Toronto, where she focused on the intersection between media and performance, looking at the online/offline performance of self, as well as exploring narrative in advertising and pop culture. Rolla also focused her studies on political theatre and resistance art, including film. Her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Culture, and Information Technology was a joint program with Sheridan’s Digital Communications Certificate and combined both theory and practice in digital communication and professional writing.

Rolla has been teaching at the post-secondary level for over 8 years. She began her teaching career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, where she had the opportunity to present her graduate research as a guest lecturer on several occasions.

Outside of teaching, Rolla served as a member of the Board of Directors of a non-for-profit that represented patients and families affected by bone marrow failure diseases. During her time on the board, she also served as the Chief Editor for the Association’s quarterly newsletter for patients and health care professionals.
As a professional freelance writer, Rolla has been published in a broad range of online magazines, including articles for entertainment news websites, finance related websites, and women's lifestyle magazines.

Rolla published her first book of creative non-fiction, Keeping Daisies, with Life Rattle Press in 2011. Rolla hopes to continue working on her second book.
Rolla is happy to be teaching at Sheridan College, and working with her students to foster an open and positive learning environment for all.
