Dr. Cottrell is currently the professor for the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Kinesiology and Health Promotion) program at Sheridan College. He received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Northern Arizona University, and a Doctoral degree in Physiological Sciences at the University of Arizona. Trevor’s teaching areas include physiology, nutrition, resistance training, strength and conditioning, and research. With over 25 years of competitive strength athletics experience and 20 years of strength coaching experience, he combines a unique blend of theory and practice into his teaching and research.

Sheridan Research Focus
The majority of Trevor’s publications have been in cardiovascular and neural cellular physiology; however, at Sheridan he performs applied research in the area human performance. He is currently overseeing several projects studying the effects of differing warm-up practices on performance in high power output tasks. Recent research has also investigated the efficacy of sports supplements in improving human performance.
