Allison Fitzgibbon obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, where she studied exceptionalities in human learning. In her role as a  Student Support Counsellor at an Ontario Demonstration School, she received explicit training in assistive technology (Dragon, Kurzweil, Inspiration), reading intervention programs, (SRA, PHAST and Wilson), and Differentiated Instruction.

During this time, Allison completed studies towards a Child & Youth Work diploma at Centennial College. She later completed her Master of Education, at OISE, with a focus on Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She has particular interests in teaching students with LDs and ADHD, and supporting students with additional emotional and behavioural challenges.

With extensive experience in the field of special education and youth mental health, Allison brings practical and theoretical knowledge to her classrooms. Allison engages students through activity-based and experiential learning tasks. As an artist, Allison further recognizes the crucial role creativity plays in making learning accessible for all students, and strives to create a learner-centred classroom.

An inviting and approachable educator, Allison incorporates student feedback into her practice. Allison is the project lead of the Educational Support Skills Passport, connecting students with community organizations for ongoing professional development and field-specific training.
