Ann Callaghan has been a full-time faculty member and program coordinator at Sheridan College since 1995 in the Makeup for Media and Creative Arts program. In 2009, she partnered in the development of the graduate certificate Advanced Special Effects Makeup, Prosthetics, and Props program. Ann is proud of helping to lead the MMCA program from a cohort of 20 students to its current level of more than 200 students while repositioning the content to advance program directions in creative art, media, and culture. Ann is a proponent of the view that makeup artistry is a critical component of contemporary art and pop culture using the face and body as a canvas for representation.

Ann holds a B.Ed. in Adult Education and an M.A. in Popular Culture from Brock University. She has a teaching menu that includes investigating the impact of media on body image, advertising, and media, leadership, culture and identity, and marketing as it relates to consumer choices in makeup and related industries. Promoting academic rigor through the use of effective curriculum design and development, evaluation practices, and integrated learning across courses are her areas of interest. Her MA research is titled Market Research and Predictive Analytics: The Uneasy Merger of Big Data, Consent, and Control.
