Alexandra Chernysh is a chemical engineer educated at Lviv Polytechnic Institute and the University of Toronto. She has extensive experience in the environmental industry and design and operations for chemical manufacturing in Canada, Bangladesh and India.
Prior to joining Sheridan as a full-time professor in 2010, she was a part-time faculty member at Sheridan, Mohawk and Seneca Colleges. She has taught a wide range of courses, primarily in the areas of chemical engineering, environmental management and chemistry, but also in electricity and physics.
In addition to teaching, she is responsible for industry liaising, applied research and new program development for the School of Applied Chemical and Environmental Sciences. Her other Sheridan activities include serving on Sheridan Senate and the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology Academic Council.
Alexandra is a registered professional engineer (PEO) and a certified engineering technologist (OACETT). Outside of Sheridan College, she has served on the admissions committees of OACETT.
Her academic interests lie in applied organic chemistry, water and wastewater treatment and environmental management.
