Helping students become career-ready

Initiated in 2017, RBC Future Launch is a 10-year, $500-million program to help young people get access and opportunity to necessary skills, job experience and networks required for their future careers. The gift to Sheridan will support two RBC Future Launch initiatives.

Over two years, $150,000 will fund the creation and implementation of the Career Ready program, a modular, online and in-person workshop program designed to give non-Work Integrated Learning (WIL) students the same career preparation skills as WIL students. The gift also includes a $50,000 sponsorship that will support the annual Pilon School of Business Student Conference, which connects business students with alumni leaders.

“We are incredibly grateful for this gift that will support our students as they graduate and prepare to enter the workforce,” says Maria Lucido-Bezely, Sheridan’s Dean of Students. “We’ve always been, and always will be, committed to empowering our students and equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed in the working world.”

“Students inspire us every day,” says Michelle Cisecki, RBC’s Regional Vice President, Halton South Market. “Regardless of the industry, we know that job markets are constantly changing. RBC knows it’s important to help young people as they navigate this important time in their lives.”

Sheridan has long been a strong proponent of work-integrated learning, which provides students with valuable, real-world experience and allows them to apply their theories to practice, develop meaningful views of the working world, and cultivate awareness as industry professionals.
