Office of Student Care & Community Standards (SCCS)

Formerly known as the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office

The Office of Student Care & Community Standards is not an emergency service. If this is an emergency, the person you are concerned about is threatening to harm themselves or someone else, please contact Campus Safety at 905-815-4044 or contact 911.

Mission: What we’re about

The Office of Student Care & Community Standards (SCCS) supports a respectful, inclusive and accountable campus environment. We respond to non‑academic student behaviour through fair, educational processes and provide care coordination, wellness support and training to help students navigate challenges. Our work also includes trauma-informed outreach, sexual violence education and proactive engagement with students, staff and faculty.

SCCS is committed to helping students grow through reflection, connection and community—striving to ensure they feel supported, informed and empowered throughout their Sheridan experience.

Mandate: What we do

The Office of Student Care & Community Standards (SCCS) plays a key role in managing non-academic student behaviour and supporting student well-being at Sheridan.

We provide:

Student conduct management

We lead and support non-academic behaviour processes guided by Sheridan’s Student Code of Conduct. Our approach is fair, educational and rooted in shared values, ensuring that responses to student misconduct foster accountability, personal growth and community well-being.

Coordinated care for complex needs

Through the Student Coordinated Care Team, we support students facing significant barriers—such as mental health challenges, housing insecurity and trauma—by facilitating cross-campus collaboration and care planning.

Consultation and training

We offer trauma-informed training, de-escalation workshops and consultation services to help faculty and staff navigate complex student situations.

Student wellness navigation

Our Navigation Specialists offer frontline support, helping students access the right services and supports based on their individual needs.

Sexual violence education and response

In partnership with Sheridan’s Centre for Equity and Inclusion, SCCS provides education, resources and support related to sexual and gender‑based violence, including outreach to respondent parties.
