Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Research

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Research

Across Sheridan, we’re making meaningful strides towards developing an equitable and inclusive community.

We are a participant in the Dimensions: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Canada Program. A Tri-Agency (Canadian Institutes of Health Research [CIHR], Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council [SSHRC], Natural Sciences and Research Council of Canada [NSERC]) initiative, the objective of the Dimensions program is to increase EDI and help drive deeper cultural change within the higher education research ecosystem.

Sheridan is also proud to be a recipient of an NSERC Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Institutional Capacity-Building Grant, which provides funding to advance and embed EDI in Sheridan’s research culture.

Sheridan endorses the Dimensions Charter: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Canada. Through this endorsement, Sheridan commits to adopting these principles throughout our practices and culture.

A Research EDI Advisory Committee/Self-Assessment Team (REDIAC/SAT) has been developed to provide guidance on the planning, implementation and evaluation of the NSERC EDI Grant initiatives and serves as the Self-Assessment Team for the Dimensions Pilot. In addition to the Committee’s oversight of the NSERC EDI initiatives, the REDIAC/SAT promotes greater awareness of EDI in research and supports the Sheridan community in the integration of EDI in Sheridan’s research culture
