Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Research
Across Sheridan, we’re making meaningful strides towards developing an equitable and inclusive community.
We are a participant in the Dimensions: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Canada Program. A Tri-Agency (Canadian Institutes of Health Research [CIHR], Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council [SSHRC], Natural Sciences and Research Council of Canada [NSERC]) initiative, the objective of the Dimensions program is to increase EDI and help drive deeper cultural change within the higher education research ecosystem. Sheridan endorses the Dimensions Charter: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Canada. Through this endorsement, Sheridan commits to adopting these principles throughout our practices and culture.
Sheridan is also proud to be a recipient of an NSERC EDI Institutional Capacity-Building Grant, which provides funding to advance and embed EDI in Sheridan’s research culture. Watch our video for a high-level overview of the EDI in Research initiatives at Sheridan.
Within Sheridan, a Research EDI Advisory Committee/Self-Assessment Team (REDIAC/SAT) has been developed to provide guidance on the planning, implementation and evaluation of the NSERC EDI Grant initiatives and serves as the Self-Assessment Team for the Dimensions Pilot. In addition to the Committee’s oversight of the initiatives, the Committee promotes greater awareness of EDI in research and supports the Sheridan community in the integration of EDI in our research culture.
Sheridan faculty, staff and students can access EDI education resources for research and innovation on Sheridan Central.
