Build a strong finance foundation designed for today's business world.

Program Overview

Study finance from an international perspective

Today's financial industry requires you to capitalize on opportunities throughout the world. Learn global financial strategies such as how to access cash at affordable rates, assess risk and protect investments from fluctuating currencies. You'll also prepare for an international and diverse workforce through group work with your classmates.

Develop relationships with employers

Start building industry connections before you graduate. Our annual Finance and International Business Networking Event attracts senior employees from across the business world. In addition to giving you a glimpse at corporate life, they'll also give you honest feedback on everything from your sales pitch to your appearance — even your handshake.

Get introduced to CFA curriculum

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations are internationally recognized, opening the door to endless opportunities. Sheridan's finance degree courses are built around the core concepts and principles of the CFA program, introducing you to what you'll need to know before taking your CFA exam.

Small classes and hands-on learning

Our Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs feature an innovative experiential learning model that prepares you for the workplace. Rather than being asked to memorize content in a large lecture hall, you'll get to know your professors and peers through interaction and collaboration. You'll actively apply your knowledge and solve business problems that simulate the real world.

Build your portfolio while you study

In our Honours BBA programs, you'll build a Creative Learning Portfolio (CLP) that helps you on your self-discovery journey — and in the job market. The CLP is an electronic portfolio that explores your passions, purpose, career and personal goals. Featuring course reflections, learning experiences and work samples, your CLP will help you showcase your skills to potential employers.

Creative problem solving for the modern business world

Complement your finance degree with a unique certificate that demonstrates your ability to think creatively. In addition to your core BBA courses, you'll have the opportunity to take different breadth electives that will enable you to obtain a Sheridan Board Undergraduate Certificate in Creativity and Creative Problem Solving. 50% of our June 2019 BBA graduates earned this optional certificate, which is endorsed by the State University of New York.

Courses in the certificate include:

  • Creative Leadership and Problem Solving
  • Applications of Creativity and Innovation
  • Group Dynamics and Creative Problem Solving Facilitation
  • Introduction to Studies in Creativity
  • Principles of Creative Problem Solving
  • Composition and Rhetoric

Flexible learning options

Sheridan's Honours BBA programs offer flexible learning options that fit into your busy life. You can choose to study part-time while you work or take a full-time course load. With morning, afternoon and some evening classes available, we make learning around your schedule convenient and simple.

Program Summary

Co-op

The Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs all include a one-semester internship where students will fulfill many of the program learning outcomes and become prepared for future employment. After the completion of a minimum of 60 credits, students may also apply to participate in the BBA Co-op program, which allows students to complete three additional work terms to a total of four work terms. Enrolment in the Co-op program is limited through an additional Co-op application process.

Co-op/Internship allows students to take ownership and responsibility for their own growth and development through practice in real-life employment environments. Our work terms are scenarios where students can apply their critical, creative, and reflective thinking in a way that maximizes their workplace experiences and preparedness for full-time employment after graduation.

Sheridan's BBA Co-op program has built-in flexibility for students to select their path and schedule for Co-op work terms, may lead to paid employment during the work term, and further supports students to develop their entrepreneurial thinking skills and capacity for responsible risk-taking in a complex workplace environment.

Students receive in-class and 1-on-1 career education support to help prepare for their Internship or Co-op work terms. The Co-op/Internship component is delivered by Sheridan's Co-operative Education Office, which facilitates over 1,800 Co-op/Internship work terms per year Sheridan-wide.
