Degree: Business Administration - Marketing Coop

Year of graduation: 2005

I decided to attend Sheridan after graduating from Burlington Central High School because I was very unsure of what I wanted to do with my life once I was finished high school.

I chose to take a year off from school and work and ‘try to figure it all out’ while taking part-time marketing courses from Sheridan. I ended up really enjoying the courses - as well as the teachers - and chose to enroll full-time at Sheridan the following year.

After the first year, I decided to try my hand at the co-operative education option that was offered to students. It was one of the best decisions I made because I ended up securing the job I have now from my co-op placement!

I am now working at Honeywell in Mississauga Ontario as Project Analyst II in the Program Planning and Controls department. Honeywell Aerospace is a leading global provider of engines, systems and services, and integrated avionics for various aircraft manufacturers, airlines, and businesses including general aviation, military, space and airport operations.

I started out with Honeywell as a co-op student, then after graduation applied for a contract position. After working on a contract for six months I then moved full-time this past July as a Project Analyst. Some of my responsibilities include providing program planning and controls support with regards to cost and schedule for various government programs with various levels of reporting requirements. Some of what I do every day consists of Earned Value Measurement and Management planning and reporting, program analysis with regards to schedule adherence to customer deliverables, and monitoring program costs. Also, a large part of my job includes understanding cost and schedule variances. I interface with various levels of this organization from Program Management, Contracts Management, various levels of the Engineering Community, Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Pricing.

Sheridan has definitely given me the knowledge and practical experience to be able to graduate and attain such a position with a global company. I have been very happy in my position working with Honeywell and hope to continue to grow there!

Some of my next steps include attaining my Bachelor’s of Commerce degree. In terms of where – I am still working on it!

Current Occupation: Project Analyst II, Honeywell Aerospace
