Schulich Builders: Scholarships for Skilled Trades

Schulich Builders Scholarships are scholarships for students enrolling in an eligible, full-time skilled trades program at a participating college in Ontario.

As a partnering college, Sheridan will award 10 Schulich Builders Scholarships:

• Five $20,000 Schulich Builders Scholarships for one-year certificate programs
• Five $40,000 Schulich Builders Scholarships for two-year diploma programs

Schulich Builders Scholarships support the costs of tuition, tools and living expenses. In addition, mentorship and coaching are provided to set students up for success upon graduation.

• Electrical Techniques
• Mechanical Technician – CNC & Precision Machining
• Mechanical Techniques – CNC & Precision Machining
• Mechanical Techniques – Plumbing
• Plumbing Technician
• Welding and Fabrication Technician
• Welding Techniques

Eligibility criteria

Schulich Builders are responsible, hardworking, dedicated people who:

• Are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
• Meet college admission requirements
• Are enrolling full-time in an eligible skilled trades program that begins in the Fall 2024 semester

Selection criteria

1. Strong work ethic and character, as evidenced by one letter of recommendation by someone directly connected to you. Preferably:
   • High school staff member
   • Employer
   • Co-worker
   • Community service organization
2. Demonstration of financial need
3. Willingness to act as an ambassador and promote your career choice in the skilled trades and the Schulich Builders program in high schools and community outreach.

Renewal criteria

If you're selected as a Schulich Builder, the only thing you must do to keep your Schulich Builders Scholarship is successfully complete each semester (no minimum average is required).

When completing the Schulich Builders Scholarship application, please disregard the link to the “General Application.” You don’t need to complete the General Application.

Applicants will need to reference the welcome email Sheridan sent to your personal email address. This will contain your username and information to access your password for the application form.

About Schulich Builders: Scholarships for Skilled Trades

We rely on skilled trades to build and maintain the infrastructure of our cities and towns. Our challenge is not having enough of these talented people to meet the demands fueled by our growth.

Schulich Builders: Scholarships for Skilled Trades will combat the shortage of skilled trades workers in Ontario and amplify their importance and value to our community by awarding 100 annual Schulich Builders Scholarships to the most promising candidates.

Ten colleges will award a total of 100 Schulich Builders Scholarships annually.
