Originally from Nairobi Kenya, Dr Kamala completed his Bachelors of Education honours degree, where he majored in Accounting in 1998. In addition, he completed Certified Public Accountancy qualification in Kenya in the same year.  Dr Kamala was employed as a Management Accountant at Across Africa Safaris, a leading tour firm in East Africa in 1999 till 2003. In 2004, he pursued a Masters of Commerce Degree in Accountancy at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa which he completed in 2006. In 2007 he was employed as a management accounting lecturer at Durban University of Technology in South Africa, thereafter, in 2010, he was employed as a senior lecturer for the same subject at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a position he held till 2015. In 2015 Dr Kamala was appointed as a Head of Management Accounting Department and Acting Head of School till 2018, when he returned to his senior lecturing post.

Dr Kamala has published 15 peer reviewed journal articles in the field of management accounting and two text books. He has successfully supervised 30 Master of management accounting dissertations and 1 PhD in the same field.  He is an external examiner at 2 universities for master of accounting and doctorate dissertations. Professor Kamala Joined Sheridan College in November 2019 and lectures introductory to accounting 1 and 2, as well as managerial accounting to Diploma and Degree students.
