Matthew Sheridan holds an MSc in the Philosophy of Social Sciences from the London School of Economics & Political Science and a BA(Hons) in Philosophy from Queen’s University. Since joining the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2014, Matthew has developed a range of General Education courses, including History of Science and Technology, Innovation: Shaping the Modern World, and, most recently, Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, a course focused on the achievements and challenges of women in STEM fields throughout history and today. His work emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to Science and Technology Studies, integrating both sociological and historical perspectives to examine the impacts of scientific and technological advancements on societies worldwide.

Passionate about inspiring critical thinking, Matthew encourages students to connect theoretical insights with real-world challenges, helping them see how innovative ideas shape modern life. He aims to foster a deeper understanding of science and technology’s role in shaping our world, preparing students to engage thoughtfully with the complexities of an increasingly technological future.
