Rogerio de Leon Pereira, Ph.D., is a dedicated post-secondary instructor and web developer passionate about teaching and technology. With 20 years in web development, 10 years as an instructor, and 7 years as a game developer, Rogerio has shaped a career helping students excel in computer science.
Holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Rogerio specializes in algorithms, bioinformatics, and game development. At Sheridan College, he engages students with projects like "The Second Fellowship," a fantasy-themed initiative making programming labs interactive. His teaching simplifies complex topics through practical, clear methods.
Rogerio’s research includes GeSort (https://gesort.cs.umanitoba.ca/), a citizen science game addressing the genome sorting problem. Using human-computer interaction principles, he crafted engaging mechanics enabling players to contribute to scientific discoveries while tackling computational challenges. Collaborations with peers like Olivier Tremblay-Savard highlight his interdisciplinary commitment.
