Anna Strachan is currently a Professor in the Magna School for the Skilled Trades at Sheridan College. She earned her Master of Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s University, an Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Mold Making and a German Tool and Die Licence over the past 20 years. 

Anna’s experience in higher education started as a part-time professor at Sheridan and Seneca Colleges in 2015.  After teaching full-time for a couple of months, she stepped into the Program Coordinator role for the Precision Manufacturing cluster of programs at Sheridan.  Anna was also the Acting Associate Dean of the Magna School for the Skilled Trades role before stepping back into her current professorship. 

Before arriving at Sheridan, Anna was granted an international patent for a minimally invasive heart surgery tool she developed with a team of researchers in Ontario. She also owned a technical consulting business.  As an apprentice, Anna won the Silver Medal in the Precision Machining Skills Canada competition, Canada’s highest student competition for Skilled Trades. Anna is an active advocate for the skilled trades and encourages young people to take their first step into their career by learning hands-on skills which formed the foundation of her career.
