Alexis Bruyns is a Professor in the Early Childhood Education programs at Sheridan College.  Alexis is proud of her Intensive ECE diploma from Sheridan College, a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University and her Masters in Elementary Education from Medaille College in Buffalo NY. She continues to find ways to embed universal design within the childcare settings with a strong emphasis on educating others on the importance of family centred practice.

Alexis has worked in both private and not for profit childcare centres as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, worked for both the Region of Peel and The Region Halton in roles supporting families with children with exceptionalities and as a Family Literacy Specialist. She has been on the Board of Directors for various local not for profit organizations supporting families with children with various abilities and actively volunteers for numerous organizations that advocate for inclusion.

Alexis values cultural diversity and inclusive practice in Early Childhood Settings.
