Finding Dory animators catch real-life inspiration

The alumni animation team behind Pixar’s Finding Dory received some in-the-field inspiration during a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium as part of their research. Allison Rutland and Benjamin Su talk about their excitement producing the hit film which opened on June 17.

Ushering in a new era for Sheridan

Sheridan’s inaugural Chancellor, former Mississauga Mayor, Hazel McCallion, presided over 2016 Convocation ceremonies which saw more than 7,800 students graduate. Sheridan also honoured David Nowell of the Pilon School of Business, and Paul Toms of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, with the Professor Emeritus designation.

Student Union Honours Rob Till

Sheridan Student Union leaders from the 1980s to the present returned to campus on June 14 to recognize Rob Till, retired Dean of Student Services. As Chief Advisor to the Sheridan Student Union (SSU), Rob shaped the lives of student leaders that still resonate with them today. A plaque was unveiled renaming the Sheridan Student Union Boardroom at the Trafalgar campus in Rob’s honour.

The audiences flocking to see Pixar’s Finding Dory are receiving an extra treat in the previews before the main feature. Piper, the charming, six-minute short film that plays before Finding Dory is the brainchild of long-time Pixar animator and 1996 graduate, Alan Barillaro.
