Jacob teaches a wide variety of mathematics courses in Applied Computing, with prior experience teaching additional math courses for both business and engineering. He has also taught some introductory computer programming courses with Java and C.
He likes to emphasize the complementary nature of knowledge from the domains of mathematics and computer science. Recently, he is developing a system of python programs that generate variations of math assessments in all LaTeX/Markdown using python.
Jacob has a BSc in mathematics from Laurentian University, a BEd in intermediate/senior teaching for math and computer studies from Brock University, and an MSc in mathematics from University of Ottawa. In addition to being a professor at Sheridan College since 2017, he has taught some high school courses and has previously done extensive math tutoring at many levels.
Jacob lives in Hamilton with his wife Rebecca and their 3 children. When he is not doing math or writing python programs, he enjoys board games, basketball, and rock climbing.
