
Sheridan appoints new Provost and Vice President, Academic
Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, Sheridan’s President and Vice Chancellor, today announced the appointment of Dr. Janet Morrison as the institution’s next Provost and Vice President, Academic.
Dr. Morrison most recently served as Vice Provost, Students, at York University. She has twenty-five years of senior leadership experience at colleges and universities in Canada and the United States. Among her past roles, she served at York as Project Director, Student Experience Transformation; Faculty Executive Officer, Faculty of Health; and Director, Student Programs in the Faculty of Environmental Studies, where she also taught undergraduate and graduate students.
Previous experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the Student Association at George Brown College, and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the Medical College of Ohio.
“Throughout her career, Dr. Morrison has shown herself to be a champion of quality undergraduate and professional education, and an educator focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning,” said Dr. Zabudsky. “A strong and collaborative leader, she is well equipped to help guide Sheridan as it continues its evolution to become a university.”
“I’m tremendously excited to join the leadership team at Sheridan, a postsecondary learning institution I’ve long admired for its vision, values and culture,” said Dr. Morrison.

Dr. Morrison has extensive governance experience as a Board Chair and member of Executive, Governance, Accountability and Quality Committees across the non-profit sector, including developmental services, child welfare, education, and healthcare. She earned her doctorate in higher education at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and holds a Master of Arts (History) as well as a Bachelor of Arts, Specialized Honours (History) from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Western Ontario.
She will assume her new role at Sheridan on November 28, 2016.
