Sheridan celebrates National Philanthropy Day and the power of giving
In recognition of National Philanthropy Day, taking place on Sunday, November 15, Sheridan is proud to acknowledge the many donors whose gifts are having a positive impact on our students.
Whether students receive a scholarship, study at the library, participate on a team, or attend a class, donors have helped make it all possible.
Philanthropic contributions are also propelling forward the Get Creative fundraising campaign in support of the expansion of the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga. This $9 million campaign is two-thirds of the way towards completion, thanks to the support of donors including: Randy and Catherine Pilon, guard.me International Insurance and the Sheridan Alumni Association.
The generous contributions of our donors are helping to fund the creation of a spectacular new building that embodies Sheridan’s creative campus philosophy. Set to open in the fall of 2016, its unique features include a Creativity Commons, a central gathering place where interdisciplinary ideas come together.
“We are very grateful for the support of our major donors, but it’s also very important to note the impact that a gift of any size can have on our students,” says Sheridan’s President and CEO, Dr. Jeff Zabudsky. “The cumulative effect of contributions from our students, employees, alumni, friends and supporters is simply transformative in the lives of Sheridan students.”
About National Philanthropy Day:
Philanthropy is “the love of humankind,” and National Philanthropy Day® (NPD)—November 15—is the day that thousands of people around the world come together to both put that word into action and recognize the change that word has brought to our communities. NPD is a celebration of philanthropy—giving, volunteering and charitable engagement—that highlights the accomplishments, large and small, that philanthropy—and all those involved in the philanthropic process—makes to our society and our world.
NPD was first launched in the United States in 1986. Canada officially recognized NPD permanently in 2012.
