Sheridan President Named to Halton Healthcare Board of Directors

Sep 15, 2015

Sheridan's President and CEO, Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, has been appointed to the board of directors for Halton Healthcare Services (HHS).  As a member of the 19-member board, he will assist in providing governance and oversight to HHS, which includes Milton District Hospital, Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and Georgetown Hospital.

"Education plays a major role in health promotion and disease prevention," said Dr. Zabudsky.  "As a creative and innovative postsecondary institution, I believe that Sheridan can be a valuable community partner for Halton Healthcare Services."  The college provides education and training in a range of health-related areas, including practical nursing, pharmacy technician, personal support worker, athletic therapy and exercise science and health promotion.

Dr. Zabudsky's commitment to health and wellness is also reflected in the latest iteration of his President's Creative Challenge, an annual competition that invites students, staff and faculty to work together to come up with creative solutions to societal issues.  The theme for the 2015-16 Challenge is wellness, encompassing the seven dimensions that together contribute to overall health and wellness:  spiritual, emotional, environmental, occupational, social, intellectual and physical.

Since joining Sheridan as President in February, 2010, Dr. Zabudsky has been deeply engaged with the communities served by the college.  He is a past chair of the United Way of Oakville; serves on the Mississauga Healthy City Stewardship Centre as well as the Peel Children and Youth Initiative; and is current chair of the board of Food for Life, among other commitments.
