Sheridan has been recognized by the United Way of Oakville for Leadership Giving Campaign, and Best Campaign of the Year. The announcement came at a special event held to announce a successful conclusion to the 2011 campaign, with a total of $4 million raised.

Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, Sheridan’s President and CEO, also served as the Chair for this year’s campaign, which asked people to ‘Live United.’ “The community responded with compassion and unparalleled generosity, helping the United Way of Oakville reach its highest fundraising achievement ever,” he said.

Sheridan’s own campaign raised over $81,000 – 109% of its original goal of $75,000, and well above the $60,000 raised the previous year. “I’m delighted with our own efforts, and proud to have played a role in the United Way of Oakville’s groundbreaking success,” said Zabudsky. “To me, this is part of our responsibility as a leading employer in the community – it’s important to be engaged and to give back.”

The Leadership Giving Campaign Award recognizes organizations that boast the highest number of “Leaders of the Way” – individual donors who contribute over $1,000. Sheridan increased its number of “Leaders” by 45% over the previous year.

Dr. Zabudsky also served on the campaign cabinet for the United Way of Peel Region, and in his previous role as President of Red River College, led a successful fundraising campaign for the United Way of Winnipeg.
