Mississauga students have enthusiastically responded to the return of Sheridan College to their city and have applied in record numbers. As of March, business diploma programs for September 2011 were already waitlisted for new applications. “This is the first time in our history that we have had to waitlist business programs so early in the application process,” says Ian Marley, Vice-President of Student Affairs and Enrolment Management.
The in-demand programs include Business Administration with specializations in marketing, accounting, finance and human resources, as well as a General Business program and Banking and Wealth Management. All are 2 or 3-year diploma programs. Spaces still remain in these programs for students who would like to start their studies in January 2012 at the Hazel McCallion Campus or for September, 2011 at Sheridan’s Davis Campus in Brampton.
Potential post-graduate students who have already earned a college diploma or university degree still have opportunities to join the first cohort at the Hazel McCallion Campus. Spaces are available in several one-year graduate certificate programs: Business Process Management, International Business, Financial Planning, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Project Management and Media for Global Professionals. “These programs are designed to equip graduates with practical and marketable skills in a specific discipline,” says Marley. “Most include a coop component which provides the benefit of real-world experience - a significant advantage in launching your career.”
Currently under construction, the campus will open the doors to its first class of full time students in September. Offers of admission have been sent out to the first wave of applicants, and new applications may be considered after May 1, when acceptances are due.
The Sheridan College Hazel McCallion Campus is located at 4180 Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga’s city centre. Its first phase is a 150,000 square foot, 4-storey facility which will accommodate 1,760 students. The campus will be leading edge in its design, services and programming. Founded in 1967, Sheridan serves 16,000 full-time students annually at its campuses in Oakville, Brampton, and as of September 2011, Mississauga.
