John Cassaday will be on hand to accept the award, given to honour the leadership position the company has attained in the Canadian media and entertainment industry.
“Talented artists with a commitment to excellence drive the creation of great brands and great content,” said John Cassaday, President and CEO of Corus Entertainment. “We commend Sheridan for building an inspiring and innovative educational environment that has trained and developed many of the bright lights in our industry and at Corus Entertainment. We are proud of our partnership with Sheridan and are honoured to accept their 2009 Gala Honouree Award.”
The many companies and brands that make up Corus Entertainment deliver compelling, engaging, interactive and informative content to millions of people every day. This means a stronger Canadian broadcasting industry, a stronger economy and stronger communities across Canada.
“It will be a great honour to present Corus Entertainment with the 2009 Gala Honouree Award,” said Dr. Robert Turner, Sheridan’s President and CEO. “Not only is Corus a leader in the Canadian media industry, but they are also a much-valued corporate partner who shares our vision of creative excellence and innovation in education.”
Delivering value and a reputation for excellence are traits Sheridan shares with many successful organizations. The Big Picture Awards present the opportunity for Sheridan to acknowledge a select number of corporations and organizations for their outstanding leadership, their willingness to innovate and their commitment to excellence.
In many cases, these powerful partners are leading the way to a brighter future for all Canadians. Four awards will also be presented to Big Picture thinkers in the arts - Fujifilm Canada; business - Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life; technology - Pratt and Whitney Canada; and community service - Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities.
About the Big Picture GalaThe Big Picture Gala, now in its third year, is an opportunity to spotlight outstanding education, individuals and achievement, and to publicly recognize and celebrate our Big Picture Award recipients and the work they do in our communities.
In addition to raising significant funds to support Sheridan students, the evening showcases the rich student talent from our Music Theatre and Media Arts programs, as well as remarkable works of art from our Crafts and Design students and alumni, which are presented in the Gala’s silent auction.
