Peer Tutoring

Peer tutors offer one-on-one tutoring for courses other than those supported by the Learning Assistants in the Tutoring Centre or through Sheridan’s PAL program. Peer tutors are current Sheridan students that have been selected based on their grades and a faculty reference.

A $40 admin fee is required per course.

How it Works

  • The Tutoring Centre reviews applications and matches peer tutoring requests from Sheridan students with eligible peer tutors
  • Peer tutors provide 10 hours of tutoring per course, per term, or 15 hours per course, per term if you are registered with Accessible Learning (AL)
  • Peer tutoring sessions take place on campus, at a time that suits both of your academic schedules

Guidelines:

  • If you are unable to meet with your peer tutoring partner due to scheduling conflicts or for another reason, you can request to be re-matched
  • Unused peer tutoring hours cannot be carried over to a future term
  • All peer tutoring sessions must take place on campus

Request a Peer Tutor

Peer tutoring is a great way to gain extra practice in challenging courses, as well as receive tips and suggestions from students who have already successfully completed your current course. Please note that:

  • Requests are only accepted from Week 2 to Week 11 of the current term
  • A $40 admin fee is required once a match has been confirmed

Complete the form: Request a Peer Tutor

NOTE: While the Tutoring Centre will work to find you a peer tutor, we cannot always find an available candidate. We will contact you if a match can be made.

Become a Peer Tutor

NOTE: Please do not provide peer tutoring until your hiring is confirmed, and until we have informed you that you have been matched with a student.
