Join us in celebration of National Canadian Film Day – a massive one-day coast-to-coast party to honour Canadian cinema!

In collaboration with our community partner, Oakville Festivals of Film and Art (OFFA), we invite you to Film.Ca in Oakville, Ont. for a double bill screening of Siddharth, and I’ll Follow You Down, followed by a live virtual Q&A with Sheridan graduate and director, Richie Mehta (Film & Television ‘02).

6 p.m. | Siddharth

Siddharth, directed and written by Mehta, is the spellbinding and gorgeously wrought tale of one father's journey across India in search of his son. Mehendra is a chain-wallah, earning a living fixing zippers on the bustling streets of New Delhi. To ease his financial woes, he sends 12-year-old Siddharth to work in a distant factory. When the boy doesn't come home for the Diwali holiday, Mehendra and his wife Suman slowly begin to suspect that he was kidnapped by child traffickers. With few resources and no connections, Mehendra desperately travels to Punjab and Mumbai with the hope that whoever took Siddharth might return him unharmed. A powerful family drama both heart-rending and suspenseful, Siddharth won Best Film (and Best Director for Richie Mehta) at the South Asian International Film Festival and was an Official Selection of Human Rights Watch.

7:30 p.m. | Live Zoom Q&A with Richie Mehta

Join us after Siddharth for a virtual Q&A with director and Sheridan graduate, Richie Mehta and other cast and crew from Siddharth.

8:15 p.m. | I’ll Follow You Down

I’ll Follow You Down, also directed and written by Richie Mehta, is about a scientist who disappears during a business trip. His son (Haley Joel Osment) and wife (Gillian Anderson) struggle to cope, but then they make a bizarre discovery years later that may bring him home.
