
National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

A ceremony will be held on December 6 to mark the annual National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The ceremony will be held in-person at Sheridan's Trafalgar Campus, with the option of viewing virtually with live captioning.
This day is held in honour of the 14 women who were murdered at Polytechnique Montréal (formerly École Polytechnique de Montréal) in 1989. It is also an opportunity to pledge our collective commitment to addressing and preventing gender-based violence in our communities.

Location: SCAET*, Trafalgar Road Campus
Virtual: View the livestream via YouTube. The event will also be streamed live via Sheridan TV on screens in common areas throughout our campuses.
Memorials on campus
In addition to the Peace Gardens, which serve as a year-round memorial to victims of gender-based violence at Davis and Trafalgar, you may wish to visit the displays set up on December 6 in the following locations:
- Davis Campus: H-Wing hallway
- HMC: B-Wing Creativity Commons
The displays will have photos of the 14 women killed at Polytechnique Montréal, information about the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and white ribbons for wearing in show of your support to ending gender-based violence in our communities.
*After formal remarks, attendees are invited to step outside to the Peace Garden for laying of roses. Please dress for the weather.
