Community Studies


The School of Community Studies at Sheridan College inspires students to make a difference in their communities by providing programs that prepare them to become competent and ethical professionals in a variety of community-related fields. The academic programs within the School prepare students for community service sectors such as social services, child and youth work and community outreach. The School strives to create a learning-centred environment that is consistent with values of service and social justice. Programs offer an exciting range of courses that reflect contemporary issues and trends in community studies and practices that prepare students with relevant skills and knowledge to assess the needs of and work with diverse clients. Highly qualified and supportive faculty with current, industry experience deliver curriculum in state- of- the- art, on-site lab facilities. Exemplary student experiences are created through dynamic, experiential learning and applied research opportunities. An integral part of all programs within the School, is work-integrated learning. Students gain real world experience through applying what is taught in their chosen field placement.
