Robert Kilby is a mechanical engineer with more than 25 years of industry experience.

He was the plant engineer for two different manufacturing facilities, each comprising approximately 100,000 square feet (9,300 square metres). As plant engineer, he was responsible for the condition of the building itself and all of the production equipment. His responsibilities also included the maintenance technicians, maintenance and project related purchasing, sourcing and overseeing sub-contractors as well as project management. His project management responsibilities have ranged up to a value of $1.7 million.

Robert was the engineering manager for a tier-one automotive supplier that designed and manufactured a wide variety of tooling for moulded plastic parts. In that capacity, he made significant changes to the engineering group, which resulted in a teamwork approach. This enabled both the engineering group and the company to grow and prosper.

Robert was also the engineering manager for an original equipment manufacturer, which was producing industrial machinery. Once again, he united a group in disarray and provided significant improvements to the benefit of both the company and its customers.

Robert’s knowledge base includes injection moulding, extrusion, mould design, packaging, high-speed machinery, machine design and tooling design. He has also been involved in risk management, safety, employee training, and preventative maintenance, and is a journeyman mould maker.
