Prof. Praveen Goel

Praveen Goel earned his first degree in Civil Engineering from PEC Chandigarh (India). He received his postgraduate (M. Tech.) degree in Environmental Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur (India). Praveen worked as Project Engineer for 12 years and Project Manager for 6 years for a large organization in India before migrating to Canada.

He received his postgraduate diploma in Quality Assurance from Sheridan College Brampton. He obtained three major certifications from the American Society for Quality; namely, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, and Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence. He joined Sheridan’s Faculty of Applied Science and Technology in 2005 as a Non-Full-Time professor. Prof. Goel is passionate about sharing his practical experience and knowledge through teaching various courses. He teaches several courses in the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Sheridan College. Some of his courses are; International Standards for Quality, Quality Auditing, The Management of Total Quality, Statistical Quality Control, Quality and Statistical Control, Instrumentation & Process Control, Health, Work & Safety. Praveen has developed course outlines for numerous courses of diploma and degree programs. He has provided his input as a member of the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) of Quality Assurance Manufacturing & Management of Sheridan College from 2006 to 2020.

As a prolific writer and contributor of quality articles and technical papers in periodicals, Praveen has contributed toward creating awareness on quality, environment, and public health.

Praveen has worked as a Quality Professional in senior positions with various organizations in Canada. He continues to work as a consultant to various organizations providing expert advice/consultancy on ISO implementation, documentation, and internal auditing. He is a member of the American Society for Quality (USA). He is also a life member of the Institution of Engineers (India).

Prof. Goel is committed to student’s success and continual improvement within and beyond Sheridan. He loves his students and helps them toward settling down in their career. The professional group of Indian Institute of Technology Alumni in Canada look at Praveen as an Inspirational Leader and follow his success story despite many challenges while settling down in Canada. Praveen was recognized by Sheridan for his exemplary contribution toward students’ success in 2021. Pearson Publishers Canada recognized Praveen’s outstanding contribution in teaching through the pandemic in 2022.

Inspired by his father, Praveen Goel set up ‘GOEL QUALITY AWARD’ for academic excellence in Quality Assurance being given annually.

On personal end, he is happily married and blessed with a daughter and a son. Both his children have received their education from the University of Waterloo and well settled in their career.
