My first Child and Youth job was at Thistletown Regional Centre for the summer.  I spend my next summer working in a day care after graduation from the Institute of Child Study, Faculty, of Education, University of Toronto. I have an undergraduate degree (B.A) in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Manitoba.

Beginning of the 80’s I worked with the Boys Home, Toronto as a front line houseparent, house supervisor, school CYW, and Manager of Clinical Services. From there I moved to the Ministry of Childrens’ Services to manage their Foster Care Program for the GTA. After a stint as a Youth Probation Officer I moved to the SAFE-T (Sexual Abuse: Family Education and Treatment) Program as a Therapist, working with groups, couples, families, and individuals who had experienced sexual abuse.

As an Advocacy Officer with the Ministry of Children’s Services Office of the Child Advocate, I worked to ensure the rights of children in care were protected throughout the province.

In 2005 I moved to Sheridan College to build and establish the new Child and Youth Worker Program. I’ve taught first, second and third year courses. and a proud member of the OACYC.
