Incentives & Subsidies for the Apprentice

Incentive Details
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant – $2,000 Taxable cash grant received after completing Level 1 and 2 schooling
Apprenticeship Completion Grant – $2,000 Taxable cash grant received after completing an apprenticeship
Apprenticeship Scholarship – $1,000 (2 payments of $500 each) Participant requires educational upgrading to qualify as an apprenticeship, they complete this within one year, are hired by an employer and registered as an apprentice all within that year.
Employment Ontario Employment Services – Free employment service for job seekers and employers in the community Services may include job search assistance connecting apprentices with employers.
OYAP – Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program – Free Registration Can be signed as an apprentice while still in high school (as early as Grade 11) MTCU pays the $40 registration fee.
Tools: Loan for tools – up to $800 Interest-free loan for tools. Interest starts accumulating once the apprentice passes the journeyperson exam or leaves the trade early.
Tools: Trades Person Tool Deduction – Up to $500 yearly Apprentices and Journeypersons can write off one half of their yearly tool purchases which total up to $1,000 (write off up to $500)
