Dr. Cindy Gouveia

Dr. Cindy Gouveia became the ninth President of Sheridan College on January 8, 2026, and also serves as Sheridan's Vice Chancellor. An accomplished leader with more than two decades of experience across the public and private sectors, her experiences fuel her results-driven commitment to expanding access and opportunity for every learner.

Her leadership philosophy, rooted in empathy, equity and collaboration, reflects Sheridan's commitment to transparency, inclusion and accountability. Dr. Gouveia is known for championing student success and expanding access to education for under-represented groups. She is also known for breaking barriers, and her appointment as president reflects a historic milestone, as she became the first woman of Chinese descent to lead a Canadian public post-secondary institution. She excels at building relationships, developing forward-thinking strategies and bringing people together to tackle complex challenges. Her work has taken her across cultures and borders, where she has forged impactful partnerships and delivered lasting results.

Previously, Dr. Gouveia served as Vice President of Global Strategic Projects at George Brown Polytechnic. A college graduate, she holds a PhD in higher education from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Guelph.
